Four Major winners will share Group 1 at the World Golf Championships-Dell Technologies Match Play which will be held at the Austin Country Club this week.
#1 Dustin Johnson will pair with Jimmy Walker, Martin Kaymer, and Webb Simpson in Group 1. All four men have at least one Major under their belts.
Just as cool is a group consisting of Jordan Spieth, playing in the same town he attended college; Ryan Moore; and Japan’s Yuta Ikeda and Hideto Tanihara.
Different from the other WGC events, the 64-player field is comprised of 16 four-man groups. Pool play lasts Wednesday-Friday with each golfer playing another member of his group once. The group winners go to a round of 16, which begins on Saturday morning, with the quarterfinals on Saturday afternoon.
The Final Four begins Sunday at 10 a.m. with the championship and third-place matches beginning at 3 p.m. that afternoon. The winner’s share is $1.6 million.
Each group is spearheaded with one of the top 16 players in the world in it.
Group 3 has the strong Australian connection of World No. 3 Jason Day and Arnold Palmer Invitational winner Marc Leishman. Group 9 is the All-American mix of Patrick Reed, Brooks Koepka, Kevin Kisner, and Jason Dufner.
