Defending Open Championship winner Zach Johnson, perennial FedEx Cup threat Jimmy Walker, and Paul Casey are tied atop the leaderboard at the Hero World Challenge after one round.
Walker did all of his damage on the back nine, firing six birdies on the final nine holes to match Johnson and Casey with 66s.
Like Walker, Johnson had a bogey-free round, hitting two birdies on the front nine and four more on the back.
Jordan Spieth is a shot behind the tri-leaders, and had the shot of the first round, a hole-in-one on the par-3 No. 2.
Seventeen of the 18 players were at least one stroke under par during the first round, the lone exception being Japan’s Hideki Matsuyama, who struggled to a 3-over 75, which was due almost entirely to his clunker of an 18th hole, a quadruple-bogey 8 on the par-4.
