Henrik Stenson just missed a pair of huge victories during the Final Series last month. He’s started off the 2016 European Tour season trying to take a lead from wire to wire.
Stenson, ranked seventh in the world, is tied with South Africa’s Jaco Van Zyl for first place at the Nedbank Golf Challenge being played at Gary Player Country Club in Sun City, South Africa.
Both men shot a 66, with Stenson birdying five holes on the front nine while Van Zyl finished with a flourish – three birdies in his last five holes. It’s a another quick start for Van Zyl, who finished tied for eighth at last week’s Dunhill Championships.
The top 10 is thick with familiar names – everyone except Van Zyl and Ross Fisher are ranked in the top 50. England’s Danny Willett, the Race to Dubai 2015 runner-up, is one stroke back at 5-under after a bogey-free round.
