American Kevin Kisner mixed in an eagle with five birdies to fire a 7-under 65 and lead the RSM Classic in Sea Island, Georgia, by one stroke following Thursday’s opening round.
Meanwhile defending champion Robert Streb is tied for 63rd at 2-under.
A whopping seven players are one stroke back of Kisner at 6-under, and a full 110 are at least 1 stroke under par at the player-friendly course.
Among those tied for 111th at even par are tournament sponsor Davis Love III and his son Davis (Dru) Love IV. The 51-year-old Hall of Famer had two birdies but gave both shots back with a double bogey on No. 13.
Dru love is a junior at the University of Alabama. As a sophomore he finished third on his team with a stroke average of 72.67 and won the 2015 Puerto Rico Classic on the same day that his father was named captain of the 2016 US Ryder Cup team.
