Andy Sullivan shot a second consecutive 66 on Friday to take a 1-stroke lead at the halfway point of the DP World Tour Championship.
Ranked 21st in the Race to Dubai standings and 53rd in the world, Sullivan has a 1-stroke lead over Argentina’s Emiliano Grillo, whose 64 was the low round of the day at Jumeirah Golf Estates in Dubai.
Grillo recorded eight birdies on the day, including five on the back nine. Sullivan also had a bogey-free round.
In the chase for the overall title, Rory McIlroy is going to make it hard for anyone else to win the Final Series after putting up a second straight 68 to move to 8-under, tied for fourth. He had a second straight round of five birdies and one bogey.
McIlroy is battling it out with Danny Willett, who is tied for 13th place at 6-under after shooting a 70. Justin Rose, No. 3 in the standings, fired a 66 to move p to a tied for seventh at 7-under, a stroke behind McIlroy.
