South Africa’s Haydn Porteous, Belgium’s Nicolas Colsaerts and The Netherlands Joost Luiten are the early leaders at the Turkish Airlines Open after a round.
All three men shot 7-under 64s on Thursday at the Regnum Carya Golf & Spa Resort. Porteous racked up seven birdies, five of them on the back nine. He did not qualify for the Final Series, finishing 64th in the Race to Dubai. He is ranked 200th in the world.
Colsaerts hit the turn at 4-under after birdying 7, 8, and 9. He added an eagle on 12 and birdies on 13 and 14 before cooling off with a bogey on 16. He is ranked 49th in the Dubai standings.
Like Porteous, Luiten had a bogey-free day. He birdied four holes on the front nine and three more on the back to reach 64.

The first-round success did not extend to the men at the top of the Race to Dubai standings.
Overall leader Tommy Fleetwood is tied for 42nd after shooting an even-par 71. He bogeyed #1 and #18. Sergio Garcia is no participating this week while Justin Rose, coming off the title at the WGC-HSBC Champions, is tied for 19th at even par.
