Denmark’s Soren Kjeldsen and Thorbjorn Olesen cruised to a 4-stroke win at the ISPS HANDA World Cup of Golf at the Kingston Health Golf Club in Melbourne, Australia on Sunday.
Kjeldsen and Olesen combined for a 6-under 66 to hold off Franche’s Victor Dubuisson and Romain Langasque and two other teams by four strokes. The Frenchmen shot a 63 on Friday.
But nothing could top the Danish pair’s 60 on Friday. The two ravaged the course, recording eagles on No. 4 and No. 8 reach the turn at 29 . They added five straight birdies to start the back nine and totaled eight birdies on the day.
Americans Rickie Fowler and Jimmy Walker also finished at 16-under. Sweden’s Alex Noren and David Lingmerth had the round of the day on Sunday, shooting a 10-under 62 to finish at 15-under for the tournament. The pair stroked 10 birdies on the day without a single bogey.
It’s the first time Denmark has won the tournament.
“It’s been an absolutely incredible week,” said Kjeldsen. “I’ve enjoyed it so much.
“I’ve enjoyed the camaraderie with Thorbjørn. I’ve been so impressed by his game, his attitude, and I think we’ve had a great time and that reflects in the result.”
