Seven players can win the overall Final Series entering Thursday’s DP World Championship Preview, a record for the event’s short history.
Rory McIlroy and Danny Willett are the co-favorites, with each man basically just needing to finish ahead of the other, while not having Shane Lowry, Branden Grace, Louis Oosthuizen, Justin Rose, or Byeong Hun An win the event.
Even if that happens, there are about 50 different permutations in which McIlroy or Willett could still win, based on how high they finish.
Because of the narrow field, tee times are in duos instead of trios for this event, held at the Jumeirah Golf Estates in Dubai. Willett and McIlroy are the last start of the day, beginning at 12:40 p.m.
Two-time defending champion Henrik Stenson takes the course at 11:30 a.m. alongside American Patrick Reed.
One of the more fan-friendly pairings is at 11:40 a.m., that of Matthew Fitzpatrick and Soren Kjeldsen. Kjeldsen turned pro in 1995, a point in time when Fitzpatrick was one year old.
