Belgium’s Thomas Pieters got hot at the right time, scoring a win at the Czech Masters Sunday to fight his way into the top 60 of the Race to Dubai standings released after the event’s conclusion.
Pieters has 447,766 points to rank 53rd in the standings. The top 60 players make the post-season tournament which commences in two months. The man currently on the bubble at No. 60 is Austria’s Marcus Fraser, who has 372,004 points, about 18,500 points ahead of No. 61 Graeme McDowell.
By comparison, 16 players have all accrued more than 1 million point this year. Each point translates into a euro earned in prize money on the European Tour.
Six players have earned more than 2 million, and current leader, Rory McIlroy, has earned 3,012,000 points despite playing in just nine events.
