The season long race for the FedEx Cup is drawing to a close, as the playoffs kick off this week with The Barclays. With elimination occurring after each tournament, the 125-man field will be keen to get tear up The Plainfield Country Club in quest for important increased FedEx Cup points.
Justin Rose is in great from of late having finished no worse than 6th in his last four starts on tour. Continuing with the 6 theme, Rose finished that position the last time The Barclays was held at Plainfield CC. Rose currently sits 5th on the FedEx Cup having recorded seven top-10’s, which included a victory at the Zurich Classic and a T-2nd finish at Augusta. Rose enters this week 2nd favorite and is paying 10/1 for victory.
Like Justin Rose, Brooks Koepka is on a great streak at the moment which has included threetop-6 finishes in his last 3 starts, and seven straight in the top-20. The World No.16 currently ranks 3rd on tour for scoring average, and 4th for all-around ranking. Kopeka currently sits 16th on the FedEx Cup on the back of eight top-10 finishes including a win back at the Waste Management. Koepka is currently 5ht favorite and is paying 22/1.
Jordan Spieth plays his first event as the World’s No.1 golfer and he will be looking to add to his large FedEx Cup lead .Having won four times, finished 2nd four times, and had an additional six top-10’s it’s easy to see how he leads by so many points! Spieth could however lose his World No.1 ranking this week should he fail to make the cut, but the bookies think he’s more likely to win than miss the cut, with odds of 11/2 for victory .
Paul Casey has done everything but win this year it seems. He has had seven top-10’s including 2 playoff losses, with the most recent disappointment coming at the Travelers Championship. He currently ranks 5th on tour for green in regulation % and 5th for Ball Striking. Currently ranked No.27 in the World, Casey is offering 35/1 for his first victory since the Shell Houston Open back in 2009.
