Troy Merritt rode his Saturday 61 to a Sunday title, shooting a 67 on the final day to win the Quicken Loans National by three strokes over Rickie Fowler.
Merritt had just one blemish on the day, a bogey on 12, but made up for it with three birdies on the front nine and two more on his final three holes.
His 67 tied for the best round of the day, and Fowler couldn’t shake off his four bogeys, despite seven birdies, en route to a 69.
After leading the tournament for two days, Japan’s Ryo Ishikawa finished 10th at 11-under with his second straight 71.
Tiger Woods bounced back with a closing-round 68 to finish tied for 18th at 8-under. Woods recorded three straight birdies on 3-5, and was 5-under through 10 before bogeying three of the next four holes.
