On a day when Billy Hurley III’s father was found safe and sound and Tiger Woods shot his best round of the year, Ryo Ishikawa moved into sole possession of first place at the Quicken Loans National at 11-under.
Hot on his tail is Rickie Fowler, who surged 16 spots with a 6-under 65. Fowler had just one bogey on the day, and ran off three straight birdies to end his round.
Woods shot a 66 and is tied for fifth after starting the day in 27th. He was outstanding on the front nine, with four birdies, including three in his first five holes, and bounced back from a bogey on 14 with a birdie on 15 and another on 18.
Hurley, whose father was found unharmed and uninjured in Texas, recovered from two early bogeys with three back-nine birdies to stroke his second straight 70 and make the cut tied for 63rd at 2-under.
