He might not have won his second Major on Sunday, but Louis Oosthuizen’s second-place finish at The Open Championship propelled him into second place in the Race to Dubai standings released this week.
Oosthuizen has 2,454,469 points, putting him second only behind the injured Rory McIlroy, who racked up 2,875,645 in eight events this year.
Oosthuizen will likely pass McIlroy at some point during the rest of the campaign despite having played just seven eligible events himself.
Danny Willett, who also made a strong showing at The Open, is third with 2,098,439. No other player has more than 1,546,903 points as of July 19.
Justin Rose, who tied for fourth at the Major, vaulted into the Top 10 at No. 6, with 1,373,114 points in nine tournaments played.
