Last year’s winner Ben Crane is one of seven former champions in the field starting Thursday at the FedEx St. Jude’s Classic, the last PGA event before the US Open.
Big names including Billy Horschel, Dustin Johnson, and Phil Mickelson are on hand for the event, held at Memphis’s TPC Southwind.
Johnson, who has climbed to No. 7 in the world, will be paired with Crane and Australian Steven Bowditch ina 7:40 a.m. tee time.
Mickelson will tee up with Graeme McDowell and Retief Goosen, who just qualified for the US Open by winning a sectional on Monday.
Crane won last year by a single stroke in a field that saw 10 players finish within three shots of the lead. He won 500 FedEx Cup points and $1.044 million for his 63-65-69-73 – 270.
