He’s only played in seven PGA events this year, but Rory McIlroy is already making a big splash in the Fed Ex Cup rankings.
His win at the Wells Fargo Championship on Sunday vaulted the Northern Irishman to third in the latest Fed Ex Cup rankings with 1,428 points.
He’s still well behind leader Jordan Spieth (2,118 points), but within striking distance of No. 2 Jimmy Walker, who has 1,693 points in 13 events.
All three of the top players have two wins apiece on the PGA circuit this year. McIlroy jumped up from 17th in the rankings with the win on Sunday.
A new face in the top 10 this week is Robert Streb, up five spots from No. 15. He’s played in 18 events, with one win and six top 10 finishes for his 1,079 points.
