Expert Picks: Zurich Classic

The PGA TOUR heads to the ‘Big Easy’ this week, for the Zurich Classic of New Orleans at TPC Louisiana. In recent years, the tournament has given many a first PGA TOUR win, it was Billy Horschel’s first win as a pro in 2013 and was also Sueng-Yul Noh’s first win a year ago. Will this year see another first time champion, or will one of the 3 players in the World’s top 10 gain another PGA TOUR victory?

Reigning FedEx Cup holder Billy Horschel has struggled to regain the form of late last year, with his best finish this year coming at the Valero Texas Open where he finished 3rd. Horschel holds the tournament record of -20 here on the back of his first PGA TOUR win back in 2013. Currently ranked No.19 in the world, Horschel is great value at 28/1.

After a poor start to the season Justin Rose found his mojo again at The Masters finishing T-2nd, shooting 14 under par, a score that would have won many previous Masters! Of Rose’s 24 career rounds at TPC Louisiana, 18 have been under par, including 11 in the 60s. In his last 3 starts at the Zurich Classic, Rose has finished 15th or better. Rose enters this week 3rd favorite for the title at 10/1.

Rickie Fowler like Horschel has struggled to regain the form of the previous year. Fowler finished in the top-5 in all 4 majors last year, and finished 9th on the final FedEx Cup standings. This season Fowler has managed 3 top-25’s including a T-12th in his last start at The Masters. Fowler’s best finish came in 2012 where he finished in tie for 10th. Currently ranked No.13 in the world, Fowler is decent value at 14/1 to capture only his 2nd PGA TOUR title.

Dustin Johnson comes into this week having not finished worse than 6th place in his past three starts, including a career best T-6th finish at The Masters. Johnson is already a winner on tour this year, having won the WGC Cadillac championship back in March. DJ hasn’t played in this event since back in 2008 when he was a tour rookie, and missed the cut. Currently one of the hottest players on tour, Johnson is only paying 8/1 for victory this week.
