All eyes will be on world No. 1 Rory McIlroy as he makes his 2014-2015 PGA Tour debut Thursday at the Honda Classic in Palm Beach, Florida, one of the few parts of the US not battling terrible weather this week.
While most of the East Coast, Midwest and South is battling rain, sleet, and snow, it’s expected to be a balmy 88 degrees Thursday afternoon at the PGA National Golf Club.
McIlroy won here in 2012, lost in a playoff in 2014, and will be one of a host of golfers attempting to unseat defending champion Russell Henley.
McIlroy will tee off Thursday along with Dustin Johnson and Brooks Koepka. Johnson is as hot as any player on tour right now without a title in the early going. If only McIlroy was still dating Caroline Wozniacki, she and Johnson’s fiancee Paulina Gretzky could make up arguably the best-looking 1-2 WAG punch in tour history. The three tee off at 12:45 p.m. Thursday on the front nine.
Five hours earlier, Phil Mickelson, Sergio Garcia, and Martin Kaymer will begin – two multi-time Major winners and the best player to never win one.
