Golf Birthdays: January 16-17

January 16

Former PGA Tour member Brad Adamonis turns 42. Adamonis is currently a member of the Tour. He played on the PGA Tour from 2008-2011, finishing in three Top 10s, including second at the 2009 John Deere Classic, losing in a playoff to Kenny Perry.

Stan Utley, winner of the 1989 Chattanooga Classic, turns 53. Utley had seven professional wins all-time, but is more well known as a teacher, called one of America’s 50 best by Golf Digest. He began play on the Champions Tour in 2012.

Jimmy Walker, who won three times in the first eight events of the 2014 PGA season, turns 36. Walker had started 188 tournaments without a victory until breaking through at the 2013 Open. He followed that up with a win at the Sony Open in Hawaii, and then the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am. He was the FedEx Cup points leader for most of the season before being passed by Rory McIlroy. He finished in the Top 9 of the Masters, US Open and PGA Championship in 2014.


January 17

Mike Heinen, the 1994 Shell Houston Open winner, turns 47. Currently a membe rof the Nationwide Tour, Heinen won the SHO 21 years ago with by three strokes over Tom Kite, Jeff Maggert, and Hal Sutton.

Jimmy Powell, who thrived on the Champions Tour, turns 79.  Powell won four events on the Senior PGA Tour between 1990-1996, the last title coming when he was 61.
