American Webb Simpson and Swede Alex Noren each shot a 4-under to take the Day One lead at the Honda Classic.
Tiger Woods shot an even-par 70 fighting off an early double bogey. It’s his fourth event back to a full schedule on the PGA Tour.
“I’m very pleased,” Woods said. “Today was not easy. It’s going to get more difficult because these greens are not the best. It was tough all around today. The wind was playing really hard, the rough’s up and it’s really tough to make putts out there.”
Noren could have the lead all to himself but he bogeyed the 18th hole to fall back into a tie with Simpson. Simpson was 3-under on the front nine before cooling off.
Four players are one stroke out of first including world No. 2 Justin Thomas. He birdied his first three holes in a row but gave back bogeys on 6 and 8.
