Jason Day is back in the top of the Official World Golf Rankings (OGWR) Top 10 this week following his victory at the Farmers Insurance Open last week.
By defeating Alex Noren in a six-hole playoff that concluded on Monday, Day jumped from 14th back to 10th in the OWGR rankings. He wasn’t the only big name rejoining the top 10. Rory McIlroy rose from 11th to 8th after finishing second at the Omega Dubai Desert Classic.
Between the two of them, Day and McIlroy combined to knock Sergio Garcia (11th) and Henrik Stenson (12th) out of the top 10. The top seven remained untouched with Dustin Johnson remaining at No. 1 for a 50th straight week.
Johnson is only the sixth player to be ranked No. 1 for at least 50 weeks in a row. Next week he will move into a tie for seventh with Day for the most all-time weeks set at No. 1.
Omega Dubai Desert Classic winner Haotong Li climbed into the top 50 with the win, rising from 60th to 32nd.
By finishing tied for 23rd at the Farmers Insurance Open, Tiger Woods climbed 108 spots in the rankings to No. 539. If he is able to stay healthy, he will rise quickly since he has no points to lose, having not played regularly since 2015.
