Italian Nino Bertasio fired a second straight 65 to take a 1-shot lead into the weekend at the Portugal Masters.
Playing at the Dom Pedro Victoria Golf Course, Bertasio needs to turn it on down the stretch if he’s going to qualify for the Final Series. He’s currently 117th in the Race t Dubai standings.
That’s a common theme atop the leaderboard at this event. The two men tied for second – Lucas Bjerregaard and Marc Warren – are also outside the top 60. Bjerregaard is 114th and Warren is 85th.
“I’m feeling good,” he said. “The game’s really good. I had a bogey-free round today and it was very easy golf. I just missed one green and I chipped it to one foot so I never really struggled to make pars and had a lot of looks at birdies and I made some and missed some so it was a very easy six under.”
Warren has won three times in his career on the European Tour, but has struggled mightily in 2017. He’s missed 10 cuts in his last 12 events and has zero finishes in the top 10 this year.
