Nobody exactly knows what Dustin Johnson’s injury is, but that’s not stopping the Las Vegas oddsmakers from making him their guy.
Johnson opened as the favorite to win the US Open which runs June 15-18 in Erin Hills, Wisconsin.
Johnson is 8 to 1, followed closely by Rory McIlroy at 9 to 1 and Jordan Spieth at 10 to 1.
Masters champion Sergio Garcia is 25 to 1, not even the best odds among Spaniards. That honor goes to Jon Rahm at 20 to 1.
Former No. 1 Jason Day is at 12 to 1, Masters runner-up Justin Rose is 15 to 1, and perennial bridesmaid Phil Mickelson is at 30 to 1.
FedEx Cup Standings
Sergio Garcia assured himself a place in the PGA’s FedEx Cup by wining the Masters. The victory saw him rise to 12th place in the standings with 877 points despite playing just seven PGA events this season.
Despite missing the event entirely, No. 1 Johnson continues to lead the standings with 1,903 points in seven events. Johnson has three wins and five top 10 finishes this season. Hideki Matsuyama, Justin Thomas, John Rahm, and Adam Hadwin round out the top 5.
Race to Dubai
Garcia took over the lead in the European Tour’s Race to Dubai with the victory. He has 2.44 million points. He’s the only player to date with more than two million points, and one of only four above one million. Also breaking into seven figures are Tommy Fleetwood (1.62 million), Jon Rahm (1.51 million) and Justin Rose (1.18 million).
