The PGA Tour and the social media giant announced that Twitter will live stream the first 60-90 minutes of 31 events, beginning with the CareerBuilder Challenge on January 19.
Terms of the deal were not announced, however, Twitter paid $10 million to live stream 10 Thursday Night Football games for the NFL last year.
The coverage will include pre-tournament analysis, interviews, range coverage, and live competition from the first two holes of each day’s marquee groups as determined by the PGA.
The deal was done after a successful collaboration during the first two events of the FedEx Cup last fall.
Twitter is how many golfers connect with their fans the most. Tiger Woods’ company, Tiger Woods Ventures has more than 6.1 million followers on the social media site. Rory McIlroy is the top individual player with just over 3 million followers, followed by Ian Poulter (2.286 million), Bubba Watson (1.838 million), and Rickie Fowler (1.391 million).
