Masters champion Danny Willett won’t represent England in the World Cup of Golf, citing ongoing back problems.
It’s entirely likely that Willett is as concerned about the flight from England to Melbourne, Australia, as he is with aggravating the injury in the tournament.
It was really looking forward to playing the World Cup with Lee Westwood, but considering everything, including the amount of travel involved and extra strain, decided that it was not in my best interests,” Willett said in a statement.
Willett is probably as worried about the 21-1/2 hour flight from London to Melbourne as he is with aggravating the injury in the actual tournament.
The event is scheduled for November 24-27. No replacement for the UK contingent has been named as of yet.
