After watching local favorite Piya Swangarunporn rush past him with a course-record 63, Australian Scott Hend made clutch shots over his final five holes to take the True Thailand Classic on Sunday with an 18-under.
Swangarunporn started the day six strokes behind Hend, but ended his brilliant round a stroke ahead at 17-under following four birdies on the front nine and four more on the back, including a 40-footer No. 14 and a 20-footer on No. 18.
Down a stroke once the Thai left the course, Hend fired back with a birdie to tie for the lead on 14 and another on No. 17 to take the lead back. He birdied No. 17 four times in four rounds over the course of the weekend, and shot 5-under on No. 2 -three birdies and an eagle.
Thomas Pieters pushed Hend earlier in the round, tying for the lead by shooting a birdie and an eagle to start his Sunday, but bogeys on No. 3 and 8 undid his progress. Pieters finished three strokes back at 15-under.
