South Africa’s Haydn Porteous fired a final-round 69 to win the Joburg Open title by two strokes on Sunday in his home country.
He’s the second South African to win his first European Tour title this year, following Brandon Stone a week ago at the SA Open.
Porteous never gave back a stroke on Sunday, going bogey-free to take the title, earning a guaranteed spot in The Open Championship in the process. He finished two strokes clear of fellow South African Zander Lombard, who shot a closing round 71 after torrid middle rounds of 64 and 65.
Scores were noticeably up on the final day, with no one in the top 25 bettering a 67.
