If you’re having a hard time figuring out who Shriners Hospitals for Children Open leader Brett Stegmaier is, don’t worry … so is everyone else.
The 32-year-old is in just his fifth career start after earning a tour card in the Web.com Tour Finals series.
A graduate of the University of Florida, he was 6-under through 15 holes on Friday before his round was called for darkness. He’s 11-under for the tournament.
Stegmaier didn’t look daunted by the competition, recording four birdies and an eagle.
Chad Campbell, Morgan Hoffmann, and Tyler Aldridge are all one stroke back. Jimmy Walker is one of several players at 9-under.
The second round resumed early on Saturday morning with the third round to follow.
