The ninth installment of the Portugal Masters kicks off Thursday at the Oceanico Victoria Golf Course in Vilamoura, the final Race to Dubai event in Europe before the Final Series begins later this month.
Four Major winners will take part in the field, led by former No. 1 Martin Kaymer.
France’s Alexander Levy is the defending champion, and is seeking to become the first player to ever defend his title at the event.
Last year, he needed just 36 holes to do it, as heavy rains washed out the final two rounds with Levy already 18-under.
Neither Kaymer nor Levy has anything to worry about when it comes to qualifying for the Final Series this week. Kaymer is 15th in the standings, and Levy 37th.
The course is a par-71 and is 7,209 yards in length. It might be another short tournament, as the chance of rain goes from 10% on Thursday and Friday to 100% on Saturday and 90% on Sunday.
