Tiger Woods fired his best round since 2013, a 6-under 64 at the Wyndham Championship that has him two strokes off the lead after 18 holes.
After missing the cut at last week’s PGA Championship, Woods notched seven birdies against a single bogey. Another missed cut this week would have seen Woods likely drop out of the top 300.
Americans William McGirt, Erik Compton, and Tom Hoge are atop the leaderboard at 8-under. Compton was stunningly good on the front nine, firing seven birdies in nine holes to reach the turn with a 28.
Woods is grouped with Martin Kaymer and Davis Love III at 6-under.
