Jordan Spieth didn’t win the PGA Championship on Sunday, but his lead for the pricey FedEx Cup post-season chase got laughably higher with his runner-up finish.
By taking second at the PGA Championship, Spieth increased his total on the season to 4,169 points. No. 2 Jason Day has 2,459 points, a distant 1,710 behind Spieth, who has four wins and 14 top 10 finishes this year.
By finishing in the Top 10 at the PGA Championship, Rory McIlroy re-entered the top 10 of the FedEx Cup at No. 9, up three spots from 12th.
The top 125 players in the standings qualify for the post-seasons series of tournaments which starts in a few weeks. The overall winner takes home $10 million.
