Three-time tournament champion Steve Stricker is two strokes back after a 6-under 65 on Thursday. Stricker was 8-under through 16 with eight birdies, only to bogey both 17 and 18 to fall off the pace.
The most watched player of the day had one of the least impressive rounds of his season to date. No. 2 Jordan Spieth is tied for 101st with an even-par 71. He was 1-under through 7, then struggled with three bogeys in four holes between 8 and 11. He bounced back with birdies on 13 and 14 to break even.
