Bubba Watson didn’t approach his brilliant 62 from Thursday during the second round at the Travelers Championship on Friday, but his 67 was enough to keep a 2-stroke lead.
Watson minimized his mistakes with three birdies and 15 pars to lead by two strokes over three players, including Brian Harman, who shot up 13 spots with a 5-under 65.
Harman was 1-ovr through five holes, then caught fire and recorded six birdies between No. 6 and No. 17.
The low round of the day went to Nick Watney, who shot a 6-under 64 to soar from 76th to a tie for eighth. Watney was the model of consistency – three birdies in the first six holes, and three more on the first six holes in the back nine.
Kevin Streelman, last year’s champion, finished the day 1-under, missing the cut which was set at 2-under.
