Proving he’s no one-hit wonder, 18-year-old Swede Marcus Kinhult fired a 4-under 68 to extend his lead at the Nordea Masters to two strokes on Friday.
He’s tied atop the leader board with Swede Jens Dantorp at 9-under with each man tallying a 135 through two rounds.
That lead’s two shots ahead of another Swede, Sebastian Sorderberg, and Germany’s Maximilian Kieffer, who would have been in a three-way tie with the two young stars in the making had he not bogeyed the final two holes on Friday.
Kinhult bogeyed the sixth hole but birdied the seventh, and for the second straight day he was flawless on the back nine, this time with seven birdies and no bogeys.
Only three other amateurs have ever won a European Tour title, all within the last eight years. Pablo Martin did so in Portugal in 2007, Danny Lee in 2009 at the Johnnie Walker Classic and Shane Lowry at the 2009 Irish Open.
