Golf Birthdays: May 21-22

Mark Carnevale, the 1992 PGA Rookie of the Year, turns 55. Carnevale won the honor at age 32 after winning the Chattanooga Classic. Twice he finished in the Top 35 at the US Open.

Stewart Cink, winner of the 2009 Open Championship, turns 42. Cink has 14 professional titles overall, including six on the PGA Tour. After being named the Nike Tour Player of the Year in 1996, he was named the PGA Tour Rookie of the Year in 1997 – winning the the Canon Greater Hartford Open that summer.  He finished third at the PGA Championship in 1999, third at the US Open in 2001 and third at The Masters in 2008. After 54 holes at the 2009 Open Championship, Cink was 2 strokes off the lead, and all eyes were on 59-year-old Tom Watson, who held the lead. He made up the deficit with a 15-foot birdie putt on No. 18, then won a four-hole playoff over Watson, who bogeyed the first hole and double-bogeyed the third while Cink was birdying the third and fourth.

Olin Browne, a three-time PGA winner and former Ryder Cup assistant coach, turns 56. His first title was the Greater Hartford Open in 1998 and he added the Colonial in 1999. In 2005, he won the illustrious Deutsche Bank Championship by one stroke and was later named PGA Comeback Player of the Year.

Brent Geiberger, a two-time PGA champion, turns 47. Geiberger won the 1999 Canon Greater Hartford Open and the 2004 Chrysler Classic of Greensboro.

Andrew Magee, longtime PGA member, turns 53.  He is the only PGA player in history to hit a hole-in-one on a par-4, doing so at the 332-yard No. 17 at the 2001 Phoenix Open. He has four PGA titles in his career, two in 1991, and finished in the Top 10 of two Majors.
