Hudson Swafford fired a 6-under 66 to finish 11-under through 36 holes,the low score on a rain-soaked day in New Orleans.
Boo Weekley is also at 11-under, although his play stalled on the 15th hole. Weekly shot a 64 on Thursday.
South Africa’s Brendon de Jonge is part of a five-way tie for second, although only he and Cameron Tringale have finished their rounds, with Tringale racing to a 7-under 65, highlighted by an eagle 3 on the second hole.
Play continued early Saturday morning with several players finishing their second rounds, including Jason Day of Australia, who was threatening to move ahead of Swafford with a back nine barrage of birdies.
