On a day when 94 different players shot at least one stroke under par, Boo Weekley and Brendon de Jonge were at the top of the heap, with each man firing an 8-under 64 at the Zurich Open of New Orleans on Thursday.
Weekley set the tone early with an eagle on No. 2, and added seven birdies against just one bogey. De Jonge had eight birdies, including two streaks of three straight.
The biggest names in the tournament sit three strokes back at 5-under: Jason Day and Dustin Johnson. Day got off to an ugly start, with a double bogey on No. 3 and a bogey on No.4 to sit 2-over through four holes. He rallied with seven birdies over his final 12 holes.
Johnson’s round was much simpler, five birdies spread across 13 holes.
