This week sees the PGA TOUR hit Florida’s Innisbrook Resort and Golf Club, for the Valspar Championship. Last year saw tour veteran John Senden take the title with an aggregate score of -7, to take a one shot victory over Kevin Na.
Of the 144 players total, 79 have won a PGA TOUR event, 15 have won a Major, and combined they have 315 Tour wins.
Jim Furyk enters this week on the back of a solid start to 2015, having finished in the top-15 in each of his last 3 starts. Furyk is a previous winner at the Valspar, taking the championship back in 2010. Since then Furyk has not been outside the top-20 on all 4 occasions. Currently ranked No.6 in the world, Furyk is 18/1 to become a champion yet again.
Adam Scott is only playing his second tournament of 2015, having started his season at last week’s WGC Cadillac Championship. Scott finished in a tie for 4th, which is even more impressive given his 3 month absence from tour golf, and a recent change to a short putter. The former World No.1 is the favourite to take the title this Sunday, with odds currently at 12/1.
Gary Woodland, like Jim Furyk is another former champion in the field having won back here in 2011. Woodland is having a decent start to his season recording 2 top-10 finishes in 7 starts, including a T3 at the Sony Open. Woodland enters the week on the back of a T-24th finish at the WGC Cadillac Championship. Currently ranked No.48 in the world, Woodland is 40/1 to become a Valspar Champion again.
Henrik Stenson is the highest ranked player in the field, currently sat in third on the World Golf Rankings. Stenson’s playing only his 2nd start of the season, having been fulfilling his European Tour commitments for the early part of the year. At last week’s WGC Cadillac Championship, Stenson finished T-4th with Adam Scott. This is Stenson’s first visit to Innisbrook, and is currently paying 16/1 for victory.
