The fact that he has a couple of extra days at home doesn’t sit well with Rory McIlroy this weekend, largely because he’s getting the break due to some sub-par golf.
McIlroy followed up his 73 on Thursday with a 74 on Friday, falling to 7-over par, a number which will likely miss the cut, which will formally be decided on Saturday as the rest of the field finishes its second round due to a rain delay.
“Yeah, I’m pissed off,” McIlroy said. “I don’t like missing cuts. You want to be playing on the weekend. Well I’m here; I’m home. I’m not going to be playing this weekend – which is not nice.”
McIlroy has only missed 10 cuts in his PGA career, which dates back to 2009. he was 1-under through five holes, then bogeyed four of the next five holes and never recovered.
