True Thailand Classic Preview

Some $2 million in prize money will be on the table for the inaugural True Thailand Classic, being played February 12-15 at the Black Mountain Golf Club in Hua Hin.

Built in 2007 by architect Phil Ryan, the par-72, 7,359-yard course, is a devilish mix of lengths that was named one of the Top 100 courses outside the US by Golf Digest in 2012, the first time a course from Thailand has held that designation.

Three of the top 50 players in the world are on hand to contend for top honors: Last week’s winner of the Maybank Malaysian Oopen, Anirban Lahiri, along with Miguel Angel Jimenez and Marc Warren.

Warren and Jimenez will take the course together at 12:40 p.m., while Lahiri has an 8:10 a.m. tee on the back nine.

The field will have to contend with humid conditions throughout the weekend, as afternoon showers are expected on Saturday and Sunday, with highs in the upper 80s.
