After a wild week in Phoenix last week, the PGA TOUR moves to San Diego for the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines Golf Club. Of the 156 players total, 78 have won a PGA TOUR event, 14 have won a Major, and combined they have 373 Tour wins.
Last year’s champion, Scott Stallings entered the 18th hole Sunday in a 5-way tie for 1st, with a clutch birdie, and those behind him stumbling down the stretch, Stallings captured his 3rd PGA TOUR title.
Graham DeLaet is still yet to enter the winners circle on the PGA TOUR, but has come close numerous times including last year Farmers Open, finishing in a 5-way tie for 2nd. Last Week he finished T7th in a strong field at the Waste Management Open. Currently ranked No.59 in the world, DeLaet is 28/1 to become a champion come Sunday.
Dustin Johnson returns to competitive golf this week, since he took a leave of absence from competitive golf last July to “seek professional help for personal challenges”. In his time away from the tour, he and fiancé Paulina Gretzky have welcomed their first child, a baby boy. Johnson has also been hitting the course, setting a new course record 61 at Sherwood CC back in October with Father-in-Law to be Wayne Gretzky. At 28/1 he offers good value for a proven 8-time PGA TOUR winner.
Jason Day like DeLaet finished in a tie for 2nd at last year Farmers Insurance Open. The world No.8 has already had a solid start to 2015, finishing in the top-20 both tournaments played in, including a T3 at the Hyundai Tournament of Champions. Currently ranked No.8 in the world, Day is join favorite to win this week at 12/1.
Tiger Woods enters this week on the back of his worst round as a professional last week at the Waste Management Phoenix Open, an 11-over-par 82. Tiger has been listed at 50/1 to win at Torrey Pines, the same venue he has won eight times as a pro. Although he wasn’t at the top of his game last week, you can’t overlook his immense talent, and the very enticing odds at 50/1
