The Tooth Hurts: Tiger Loses One?

In a bizarre off-the-course incident, a photographer captured Tiger Woods at a recent skiing event for girlfriend Lindsay Vonn, missing one of his front teeth.

Woods surprised Vonn in Italy on Monday as the skier won her 63rd World Cup race, a new record. Woods was garbed in a hat, scarf, and sunglasses, but a photographer caught him with the scarf down, his mouth slightly open and one of his teeth clearly missing, giving him a bit of a Leon Spinks’ look.

According to Woods’ agent, Mark Steinberg, the tooth was knocked out by a photographer swinging a camera around and hitting Woods in the face during the event.

“During a crush of photographers as the awards podium at the World Cup event in Italy, a media member with a shoulder-mounted video camera pushed and surged toward the stage, turned and hit Tiger Woods in the mouth,” Mark Steinberg of Excel Sports said in an email. “Woods’ tooth was knocked out by the incident.”

However, officials at the race said that didn’t happen.

“I was among those who escorted him from the tent to the snowmobile and there was no such incident,” Nicola Colli, the secretary general of the race organizing committee, told The Associated Press. “When he arrived he asked for more security and we rounded up police to look after both him and Lindsey.”

With the difference in accounts, it’s hard not to revisit that fateful night in 2008 when Woods was “seriously hurt” in a car accident which really turned out to be his wife scratching his face and then smashing the window of his Escalade with one of his golf clubs in anger when she found out he was cheating on her.
