Luke Donald dodged a charging baboon and the rest of the field to boot, take a two-stroke lead at the Nedbank Golf Challenge on Friday.
Donald’s 9-under 63 was the toast of the course, putting him 10-under for the tournament and giving him a two-stroke lead over Day 1 leader Ross Fisher.
The baboon, a native of South Africa, charged out of the rough towards Donald, who hastily moved out of the way. The primate did not touch Donald, apparently rushing somewhere else in a hurry, but it definitely shook things up in an otherwise dominant round.
The second round leader board had a decidedly English tone, with Danny Willett fourth behind Donald and Fisher.
