Titleist golf ball loyalists Mikko Ilonen and Kevin Streelman completed victories on the European Tour and PGA Tour respectively to headline a multiple win weekend for the #1 ball in golf
Titleist Pro V1x loyalist Mikko Ilonen secured his fourth European Tour title by completing an impressive wire-to-wire victory at the Irish Open.
Ilonen carded a final round of 70 to finish with a 13-under par victory total, one shot clear of his nearest competitor. He was joined in the winners’ circle this weekend by fellow Pro V1x loyalist Kevin Streelman, who also put his trust in Titleist to make seven consecutive birdies in a final round 64, completing a one stroke victory at the Travelers Championship.
Streelman finished on a 15-under par, 265 winning total, to secure the second PGA Tour title of his career. There were further wins for players trusting Titleist golf balls on the Champions Tour and Canadian Tour this weekend, as the legendary Pro V1 franchise continues to be the choice of champions around the world.
Following a stunning opening round of 64, Ilonen fired round of 68 and 69 before his closing 70 sealed victory by a single shot. The Finn’s victory marked the 14th win for players trusting a Titleist golf ball on the European Tour this season, more than four times the nearest competitor with three.
As well as being the choice of the champion, Titleist golf balls were also the overwhelming choice of the field at Fota Island Resort, with 107 of the 156-player field choosing to tee it up with a Pro V1 or Pro V1x golf ball, nearly five times the nearest competitor with 22.
On the PGA Tour, Streelman topped a leaderboard that included seven Pro V1x players amongst the top 10 finishers, including Aaron Baddeley in fourth, Titleist Brand Ambassador Brendan Steele who tied for fifth, and Titleist golf ball loyalists Jeff Maggert, Chad Campbell and Carl Petterson, who tied for seventh place.
Titleist golf balls were also the overwhelming choice of the field, with 93 of the 156 players in the field placing their trust in the legendary Pro V1 franchise, nearly five times the nearest competitor with 19. Titleist equipment also led the counts for irons, wedges and putters at TPC River Highlands.
Elsewhere, on the Champions Tour, Titleist Pro V1 loyalist Tom Lehman birdied the final hole to capture the Encompass Championship. Lehman closed with a final round 70 en route to a 15-under par, 201 victory total, to claim the eighth senior title of his career.
Pro V1x loyalist Michael Allen and Pro V1 loyalist Kirk Triplett tied for second place, one shot behind Lehman. On the Canadian Tour, Pro V1x loyalist Joel Dahmen closed with a final round 69 en route to a five stroke victory at the Syncrude Boreal Open. Dahmen victory was his second in the first three events of the 2014 Canadian Tour, and put Dahmen in pole position in the early season Order of Merit standings.
