HP Byron Nelson Championship Betting Tips

The PGA tour heads back to Texas this week, for the HP Byron Nelson Championship at TPC Four Seasons Resort. Hometown boy Jordan Speith heads a strong field, which includes Players Championship Winner Martin Kaymer and World no.6 Matt Kuchar. If Monday qualifying was anything to go by, we’re in for a roller coaster ride. Case Cochran Aced the Par 3 16th to win in a playoff. That’s ‘clutch’ in every sense of the word. However at 500/1 he doesn’t make our top tips of the week, which is an all Texas affair.

Justin Leonard was born and raised down the road in Dallas, Texas. He has amassed 12 PGA tour titles since joining the tour back in 1994. After a difficult few seasons, he has started to hit his title winning form. He has had two top 10’s this year, including a T3 at the Hummana Challenge. He currently sits 2nd on tour for scrambling, and is inside the Top 50ons scoring average. At 125/1 he offers great value for a course which is very familiar to him.

Another Texan player to watch for is Ryan Palmer. The man from Amarillo, Texas is no stranger to the course, having lost in a Play-off to Keegan Bradley back in 2011. The three time PGA Tour winner, is in great form this year, including four Top 10’s and two 2nd place finishes, all this in just 12 starts. At 33/1 we like him to go one better than he did in 2011.

Back in 2010 Jordan was just sixteen, in high school, playing his first PGA tour event, and in contention come Sunday! The fairy tale ended with a very impressive 14th place finish. Four years on, and Jordan will again enter the tournament a major talking point. After a stellar debut season last year, he’s gone from strength to strength this year. Although he hasn’t won yet this year, he has six top 10’s to his name, including an impressive T2 on his Masters debut. He enters the week favorite at 11/1, and I see him talking the title come Sunday.
