Walker Closes FedEx Gap on Spieth

Jimmy Walker used his second-place finish at the AT&T Byron Nelson Classic to move within 462 points of first-place Jordan Spieth in the latest FedEx Cup standings released Monday.

Spieth finished 30th at the same event. He leads the chase with 2,366 points while Walker has 1,904. Both men have played in 15 eligible events this year.

Charley Hoffman, who also finished tied for second last week, jumped from seventh to fourth in the standings, with 1,390 points in 19 events. He trails Rory McIlroy, who is the top European player in the standings, with 1,428 points in just seven events.

Byron Nelson winner Steven Bowditch climbed 52 spots from 68th to 16th, becoming the 16th player to crack the 1,000-point barrier.

The top 125 players qualify for the first of the four year-end tournaments, however barring a run of incredible golf at year’s end, the more points one can acquire before the start of the FedEx Cup, the better one’s odds of winning the $10 million overall prize.
