Peter Uihlein Takes Lead in China

Peter Uihlein, one of the few Americans in the field, opened up a one-stroke lead over Thailand’s Kiradech Aphibarnrat at the Shenzhen International on Friday.

Uihlein followed up Thursday’s 68 with a 69, striking only one bogey, that on No. 15.

The UK’s Matt Ford, France’s Gregory Havret, South Africa’s Darren Fichardt and Argentina’s Emiliano Grillo are all tied for third with dueling 6-undr 138s. Grillo had the best round of the day among the competitor,s a 5-under 67 that saw him nail four birdies in his last five holes.

Uihelein is on the European Tour thanks to a win at the 2013 Maidera Islands Open in Portugal.
