Golf Birthdays: March 31 – April 2

Andrew Oldcorn, three-time European Tour winner, turns 55. Oldcorn at one time was the oldest winner in the history of the Volvo PGA Championship, which he won at age 41 in 2001. He currently plays on the European Seniors Tour.

April 1

Donnie Hammond, two-time PGA winner, turns 58. Hammond finished in the Top 10 of 40 PGA events in his 16-year career, and tied for fifth at the 1992 Open Championship.

Dan Pohl, who finished in the Top 3 of three different Majors wtihout a win, turns 60. Pohl won twice on the PGA Tour, both times in 1986, and played on the 1987 Ryder Cup team. He was routinely one of the Tour’s top drivers in his youth.  In 1981, he finished third at the PGA Championship, five strokes behind Larry Nelson. In 1983, he finished tied for third at the US Open, four strokes behind Tom Watson; and he tied Craig Stadler for the overall lead at the 1982 Masters,

April 2

J. J. Henry, a two-time PGA Tour winner, turns 40. Henry won the 2006 Buick Championship and the 2012 Reno-Tahoe Open.

Rory Sabbatini, a six-time PGA Tour winner who was the runner-up at the 2007 Masters, turns 40. Sabbatini has attracted controversy during his career for yelling at fans and playing partners, and withdrawing from Tiger Woods’ Target World Challenge, an off-season event. In the final round of the 2007 Masters, he made up three strokes, but still finished three two strokes behind winner Zach Johnson.
