Tom Lehman, the 1996 The Open Championship winner, turns 56. Austin won 34 professional titles in his career, and had second-place finishes at two other Majors. He had the lead after three rounds at three straight US Opens without winning one. In 1996, he opened up a seven-shot lead after 54 holes and won the Open by two strokes over Ernie Els and Mark McCumber, the first American to take this particular major in 70 years. Lehman spent one week ranked No. 1 in the world.
Swedens’ Jesper Parnevik, who won 13 times professionally, turns 50. He finished tied for second at the Open Championship in 1994 and 1997. He won 13 times overall.
