It’s been 5 years, 10 months and 30 days since Retief Goosen last won a professional golf tournament. He’s 18 holes from ending that drought.
Goosen shot a 2-under 69 on Saturday to drop to 8-unde through 54 holes, giving him a two-stroke lead over Graham DeLaet through 54 holes at the Northern Trust Open on Saturday.
Goosen kept the lead despite staggering through a sequence of four bogeys in six holes between No. 10 and 15. He bounced back with birdies on 16 and 17.
DeLaet came out firing with an eagle on No. 1 and a birdie on No. 6, but like Goosen he struggled, notching four bogeys between 7 and 14.
