Just when it seemed like Jim Furyk was out of contention for the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am Tournament title, he came roaring back.
Furyk fired seven birdies in his last 10 holes to finish with a 63 and take a 1-shot lead headed to Sunday.
After starting the day in 14th place, Furyk was 3-under at the turn, then birdied 11, 12, 13, 15, 16, and 18 to finish the back nine with a 30.
Day One co-leader Matt Jones was just 1-under at his turn, then fired off six birdies in seven holes. But Jones crashed back to earth with bogeys on 8 and 9 to slip a stoke behind Furyk.
Day One co-leader Brandt Snedeker also had a late bogey, but came back with a 20-foot birdie putt on No. 18 to make up for it and stay a stroke back.
Nick Watney is fourth at 16-under after firing a 7-under 65. In all, 29 players are at least 10 strokes under par.
After leading through 19 holes, John Daly missed the cut yet again, stumbling to a 1-over 73 and finishing at 5-under.
